The Difference Between FRP Lighting Sheet and PC Lighting Sheet

 

 

 

The commonly used materials for roof lighting are PC lighting sheet and FRP lighting sheet. Here are some comparisons between the two.

 

1. The base material of FRP lighting sheet is isophthalic acid polyester, and the PC lighting sheet is ordinary polycarbonate;

 

  2. The thermal expansion coefficient of FRP lighting panel is 2.2×10-5 /cm/cm/℃, and the thermal expansion coefficient of PC lighting panel is 6.75×10-5/cm/cm/℃; the thermal expansion coefficient of FRP lighting panel is close to steel, The relative displacement caused by the change of cold and heat is less, and it is not easy to leak water due to deformation. However, the relative displacement caused by the PC lighting board is too large, resulting in tearing and deformation of the peripheral board of the screw hole and water leakage.


3. The tensile strength of FPR lighting panels is relatively high, about 94MPa, which can withstand a high load similar to that of steel plates, and has strong typhoon resistance. The tensile strength of PC is about 60MPa, the ability to bear the load is weak, and the ability to resist typhoon is weak.


  4. The FRP lighting panel adopts the structure of the upper and lower membranes and glass fiber to make it have good tensile and tear resistance. The particularity of the molecular structure of the PC lighting board results in poor tear resistance and it is easy to be cracked by metal burrs and leak water. Therefore, it cannot be fixed only with screws, usually need to use adopts aluminum platen in installation.

 

  5. The lighting rate of translucent fiberglass roof panels is 50% - 80%, and that of PC is generally 85% - 91%,  PC lighting sheet is more transparent.


6. The thermal conductivity of transparent frp roofing sheet is 0.158w/m.k, and that of PC lighting sheet is 0.166w/m.k. The thermal insulation performance of FRP lighting sheet is better than that of PC lighting sheet;

 

7. The transparent fiber sheet for roof can be used in conjunction with steel on steel structure roofs with large spans and large purlins. PC lighting panels must use small grids and small sandalwood distances or convex arches to increase their strength, otherwise, it is easy to concave and leak water.
